Every burgess who is to contribute to a tax on the community shall be given notice by the sergeant to pay his tax on a certain day at the gildhall or to the chamberlains. If he does not pay on that day, he is to be given notice by the sergeant to pay on another specified day. If he still fails to pay, he shall pay (in addition to his tax) 12d. for his default, and be given a third day to pay. If he continues not to pay, he shall be distrained by the sergeant by all goods available for distraint, until the amount is paid.
